PRESS RELEASE

July 9, 2025- Cavalier Galleries is pleased to announce Hard Day’s Night: Harry Benson & Jim Rennert, the first in our 2025 series of Summer Duos, two-person online only exhibitions that highlight the work of gallery artists.
Best known for photographing the Beatles from 1964 to 1966, Harry Benson went on to cover major world events and numerous celebrities beyond the Fab Four. Born in Scotland in 1929, Benson has made his home in the U.S. since he crossed the pond with Paul, John, George, and Ringo. Benson has photographed every U.S. president from Eisenhower to Joe Biden; was just feet away from Bobby Kennedy the night he was assassinated; in the room with Richard Nixon when he resigned; on the Meredith march with Martin Luther King, Jr.; next to Coretta Scott King at her husband’s funeral; on maneuvers with the IRA; was there when the Berlin Wall went up and when it came down; and covered the aftermath of Katrina in New Orleans. The recipient of several lifetime achievement awards, Benson’s work is held in the permanent collections of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC, and the Kelingrove Museum of Art in Glasgow.
Jim Rennert is celebrated for his autobiographical businessman character who navigates the trials and triumphs of the corporate world and life write large with grit, humor, and wisdom. His limited-edition bronze sculptures are treasured elements of collections across the country. Rennert’s monumental works have graced the streets of Manhattan for over a decade, beginning with the 2014 introduction of his now-iconic Think Big, which depicts a 12.5-foot-tall suited figure looking up toward the sky with an air of courage and optimism.
