BIOGRAPHY
Luis Pérez
(Spanish, b. 1978)
Born in Valladolid, Spain, in 1978, Luis Pérez developed an early interest in the visual arts that would later shape his distinctive artistic path. He graduated with a degree in Art History from the University of Valladolid. Although academically trained in art history, Pérez is largely self-taught as a painter, cultivating his technique through disciplined practice, observation, and experimentation.
Working primarily with acrylics, Pérez focuses predominantly on urban landscapes. His paintings explore the emotional and visual tension between light and shadow — a recurring theme that defines his oeuvre. Through luminous sunrises, dramatic sunsets, nocturnal cityscapes, and serene snowscapes, he captures fleeting moments that transform familiar environments into poetic and introspective spaces. For Pérez, light is not merely a visual element but a narrative force that shapes atmosphere, mood, and meaning.
His work reflects a refined balance between realism and expressive interpretation, often emphasizing contrasts, reflections, and the interplay of color to convey both movement and stillness within the urban setting. Over the years, his paintings have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, earning recognition from collectors and audiences across Europe and beyond.
Through his ongoing exploration of light, atmosphere, and architectural space, Luis Pérez continues to develop a body of work that invites viewers to rediscover the poetry embedded in everyday city life.
