THINK BIG New York Anniversary

December 17, 2014 - Cavalier Galleries

Jim Rennert and THINK BIG will begin the tour at the Grand Army Plaza (across from the Plaza Hotel) at 12:30 pm and will continue from there with stops at Rockefeller Center, Macy’s, the Stock Exchange and Charging Bull. The tour will finish at the monumental THINK BIG sculpture in Union Square at 4pm. Those interested in joining the tour will have the opportunity to meet Rennert and witness the induction of New York’s newest icon. Award winning documentary filmmaker, Paul Lazarus, will be filming the tour.

THINK BIG represents a man with his eyes fixed upward towards the Manhattan skyline. The larger-than-life figure gazes towards the powerful buildings and the companies that lie within, serving as a reminder that when we “think big,” we can achieve anything. As we emerge from the stifling recession, THINK BIG aims to remind us that the “American Dream” is very much alive and available to all who seek it.

“I can’t think of a better place for THINK BIG than New York City, the financial capital of the world,” Rennert explains. “I hope it will be an inspiration, and stand as a monument to what we can accomplish by thinking big and positive.”

Rennert comes from a business background, having made the decision to pursue his career in sculpture over 20 years ago. His works deal with the physical or psychological challenges of the competitive corporate world, often incorporating figures dressed in business attire and symbolic objects such as briefcases and ladders. The titles work with the pieces to solidify the concepts, and sometimes they reflect on the daily struggles and achievements with a sense of humor and irony. Businessman or not, everyone can still relate to the themes in their own personal ways. THINK BIG is the culmination of positive thinking, as the original concept started as a two-inch sculpture.

Jim Rennert was born in 1958, and grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Salt Lake City, Utah. After 10 years of working in business Jim started sculpting in 1990. He began exhibiting in galleries shortly thereafter, and has since gained significant recognition. He continues to exhibit at galleries throughout the United States, and at major art fairs in Miami, Palm Beach, Naples, Los Angeles, and New York City. ABC 7 and Artsy have recently provided news coverage on THINK BIG.
